Waking up, I found myself curled in a fetus position.
'It's so spacious in here, I can't even see the edge of this place. All I can see is white and some glass-like structures arranged like a kaleidoscope.' I thought.
Looking around the surroundings, all I can see are these glass-like structures, and I'm starting to panic because I saw no one here besides myself.
'Don't panic, let's analyze the situation first. I need to keep my calm in this kind of situation!'
A loud slapping sound reverberated. That was me slapping myself, to calm my rapidly beating heart.
Right after cheering myself up, I heard an unfamiliar voice yet seemingly familiar at the same time.
"Ahh, my baby boy. You are so adorable, look at these flabby cheeks of yours~. From now on you will be called Hiroto~. Remember that name ok honey~"
Turning around, I found the source of that noise. There, I saw a heavenly beauty that has the same features as me. Silvery white hair down to her waist, perfectly sculpted nose, symmetrical face, and green eyes that can calm anyone who peers into it. She's so familiar to me, it's like I saw her somewhere. Except for my blue eyes, chiseled face, and sakura colored hair mixed in my silver colored ones, there seems to be a lot of similarities between us.
"From now on, you will be protected by mommy. Mommy will not let you get into any harm." after saying that, something weird happened. She sprouted wings on her back, it held some semblance to the wings of those so-called Angels, her wings look so majestic as it emits platinum-colored light.
She wrapped the baby and herself around with her wings and slept. After seeing that I was dumbfounded, but I didn't have the time to think about it. Because the glass-like thing where the image that I'm seeing came from, shattered into pieces.
"Wh-who was that person? How can I see it in this weird place? Hello! Anybody there? If you're here to prank me then it's not funny you know?!" angry at whoever it is that seems to be making fun of me I started shouting at the vast space I was in.
"I'm sorry Hiro-chan, mommy has to leave you here on some remote planet. M-mommy can't refuse the orders of those pesky Gods on the Higher Heavens. Y-your father is nowhere to be found so I have to leave you here for the time being. I hope you can remember mommy when you grow ok? I love you Hiro-chan." kissing the forehead of the baby while sobbing, she left the child that she was holding on a basket and left a note that says, "Ariyoshi Hiroto".
Stunned by the sudden information, I slumped to the floor, powerless.
"I, t-that was my mommy? S-so that's why she left me all alone in the orphanage. I-I'm sorry mommy, I'm sorry for hating you when I was still a kid. I love you too mommy." I was moved by the love and care this mother of mine showed, and the heartbreak she felt when she was leaving me in that orphanage.
After that, I saw the memories of my life one after another. The embarrassing past I want to forget, heartbreaking memories I want to forget, and the happy memories I had.
'Ahh, that's right, that day. I died huh?'
It was raining that day, and I had trouble getting up from the bed. I was helping out in this orphanage the day before. It was said that a storm will be coming so I decided to call my parents to tell them that I will be staying at this orphanage for a while.
My parents knew that I always go to this orphanage to visit sometimes to help out. They knew that I have a soft spot for kids like me, that's why they allow me to do volunteering works from time to time.
After waking up, I felt that it is so comfortable laying on this bed at this kind of day.
"Uuuuh, I want to stay in my bed all day today~" rolling around the bed, I muttered. Suddenly, a knock came from the door that made me stop my actions.
"Hiro! There's a storm today and your friends from the rescue team are asking if you want to go with them on a rescue mission!" said the voice of a woman from the other side of the door.
Knowing who the woman was, I quickly got up and shouted.
"Yes, Sister Patricia! Tell them that I will be on my way there~! Thank you for reminding me!"
"Okay then, I will be waiting for you downstairs," said Sister Patricia to me who is currently making clattering noises in my room.
'Is that a chuckle that I heard just now? Maybe it's just my imagination.' Putting that thought at the back of my mind, I hurriedly dressed up into my rescue uniform and safety gear.
Looking at the reflection of myself in the mirror, I can see my face, unblemished skin with a healthy skin tone, well-defined facial features, messy silver-blonde hair with some strawberry-blonde strips mixed in, light blue eyes that seems to be always shining like the stars above the sky, and a mole under his left eye, giving him the prince charming look that every teenage girl dream of.
(A/N: Unfortunately, the guy doesn't believe when others say that he is good looking, at all)
"I have to hurry up! There's a lot of people that are waiting to be saved!" giving myself some words of encouragement, I hurriedly got out and went downstairs.
There, I saw a lot of beautiful maidens helping out the nuns. I've lived 7 years of my life in an orphanage in Japan, somewhere around Kobe, and got to know my adopted parents after that. My adopted mother is a Pilipina, and my adopted father is Japanese. My mother, Cynthia Nishimura, is a supportive and doting mother. My father, Saitou Nishimura, is a bit strict when it comes to my diet and physical fitness, well he's a sports trainer so that's obvious.
Because they can't make a child, since my adopted father is impotent, they decided to dedicate all their love and care to me. It was a new quite a new experience for me who got abandoned by my real parents at the orphanage. Growing up, I got mad at them for leaving me all alone. Just got mad though, not hate, because no matter what, they're still my parents.
"Good Morning Sofia, Martha, and Demi! Thank you for always helping out here," I greeted them, smiling.
"""Good Morning to you too Hiro~!"" they greeted me back with gusto.
'Is it just me? I think I saw hearts flying from those three when they greeted me back. Hmmm, maybe it's just my imagination,' I thought, looking at them who flashed me a sweet smile.
"I got to go now! I'll be back here in a week after the rescue mission is over! Take care you kids!," I said while making my way to the door.
"""Take care Hiro-oniichan!,""" shouted the kids simultaneously.
'Umu, it's much better being called like this. Hearing the kids say this feels kinda soothing to hear, kind of like a therapy,' nodding in satisfaction, I departed from the orphanage.
Reaching our destination while riding on a military truck, I prepared myself mentally for if I were to face life-threatening danger.
The five of us, Kenneth, Jericho, David, Jhonel, and I, dismounted from the truck and headed towards our speed boat. Already wearing our life jackets, I signaled to start the motor and head to the eastern direction where the location is isolated, it was because the roads are blocked and the flood is raging.
On our way, Jericho suddenly started talking, "Hey Hiroto. Why are we headed towards that direction? Isn't it dangerous there?"
"Well I obviously know that it is dangerous, but there's this feeling of mine saying that there is someone that needs help there," I said with determination. After I said my piece, the boat came to a stop, I looked at Jhonel with a questioning gaze.
Seeing the look in my eyes, he pointed in front of us and said, "I stopped the boat because the current here is fast, we'll be swept away if we move forward."
I sighed hearing his words. Looking around, I saw big splashes on the flood water so I focused on it more. There, I saw a small hand reaching out as if it was calling for help. Not hesitating for even a second, I dove into the water and quickly swam to the direction of where the hand was coming out. Shocked by my sudden actions, my teammates called me out, telling me to come back because it's dangerous.
Finally reaching the girl's location after a few hellish minutes, I took off my life jacket and made the drowning girl wear it. She looked up, seeming like she was asking, "Why? Why did you save me?"
I winked at her as I smile, "You're safe now sweetheart. I'll take you somewhere safer ok?" after saying that, I started to swim to the boat's direction.
It took 10 minutes to reach there. Out of breath, I passed the little girl to Jhonel who is still dumbfounded. When I was about to climb up the boat with Kenneth and the other's assistance, I was hit by a drum that was swept by the raging currents. I struggled to stay afloat, but it was still useless. Swept by the currents, I suddenly felt my body crash at something sharp and pointed.
Touching the location where I am feeling extreme pain, I discovered that I was stabbed straight through my heart by a metal rod.
'Ahhhh, is this how it feels to slowly lose my life? It's so painful. I hope that the girl is safe and sound. Mother, father, the kids, and sisters at the orphanage, please take good care of yourselves. I will be going ahead first,' I thought. My mind started to cloud and after a few moments, I lost my consciousness.
That day, 23rd of September, 2018. A son, a friend, a comrade, and a caring person died a tragic death.
